Dear Parents,
This is our final week of centers & homework before the holidays. Thank you so much to our classroom helpers in 2012, and thank you for your continued support in 2013! I have added center helpers through the beginning of March-- please check the schedule and put it in your calendars. Next week, we will be focusing on our Nutcracker rehearsals. Speaking of Nutcracker, now that you know your child's part, please let me know if you have any trouble rounding up leotards, ballet shoes, etc. I have a few extra ballet items of my daughter's that I am happy to loan out to anyone.
On another Nutcracker note, I am in need of two photographers for the event. They will be responsible for taking constant pictures throughout the performance, and then burning me a CD of the pictures afterward. We will offer priority seating to the photographers. Please let me know if you can help.
And on a final Nutcracker note, our "Paper Party" for making all the paper parts of the costumes (wands, hats, ribbons, etc.) is next Wednesday the 19th at 1:20. This is a Wacky Wednesday for the afternoon class. We could still use more parent helpers for this event. Children are welcome to stay (or return) and play in the classroom.
This week's letter is Pp and the Alphafriend is Pippa Pig. We also have a new word, and. Our sharing this week will be "Letter of the Week" sharing again-- this time for Pp.
We wrapped up our math unit on addition, but judging by the test scores, this is a topic that may need some continued reinforcement. I highly encourage you to check out the website http://www.xtramath.org I also recommend iPad apps such as "Math Bingo," "Math Puppy," and "Hungry Fish," to name a few. If there are other math reinforcement apps your child enjoys, please email them to me-- we are always looking for new apps. Our new math topic is subtraction, so these types of reinforcement tools will continue to be beneficial.
Please return your child's Blue Bag tomorrow for the last time in 2012! Blue Bags will go home this Wednesday, but not on the the 19th.
