Kindergarten Orientation is Tuesday, August 13th, from 10:00 to 10:30. Class lists will be posted at 9:45.
Supplies that we usually ask for in kindergarten include glue sticks, white board markers, baby wipes, liquid hand soap, and hand sanitizer. These are not mandatory, but just appreciated donations. Check Back-to-School sales for these items-- we appreciate it!!
School begins on Wednesday, August 14, 2019-- ALL KINDERGARTEN SESSIONS WILL RUN FROM 8:15 to 11:35. Child care is available at Union School District Extended Care or Holy Cross (408) 356-6828.
Kindergarten Back-to-School Night, a meeting for parents only, is Wednesday, August 14th at 5:30 p.m.: This is an important informational night where the teachers will go over the curriculum and program for the year and answer any questions you may have. Please plan accordingly and book those babysitters! The schedule is:
5:30-6:15: p.m. class presentation in rooms K1 & K2 & 2
6:15:6:45: Home & School Club presentation in the cafeteria
You should have received a letter, welcoming you to kindergarten at Alta Vista via email.
For kindergarten readiness, the AV kindergarten team highly recommends that your child comes into kindergarten:
- recognizing most letters
- writing his/her name legibly, using one upper-case & the rest lower-case letters
- recognizing numbers to 10 & beyond
- knowing names of basic shapes
- having good cutting/scissor skills
- able to sit attentively for the duration of a picture book
