Dear Parents,
This week, we have another review week with letters. I believe we only have one consonant and one vowel left to formally introduce, so we will have many review weeks ahead of us! We will be reviewing both w and y, as those are more difficult sounds which are often confused. Our sight words are if and was.
We will continue on our math topic on telling time. This topic covers telling time to the hour and half hour on both a digital and an analog clock. It also covers estimating how much time something takes, as well as things that happen during the day versus during the night. The children seem to be enjoying this topic.
This week's sharing is Song, Poem, Nursery Rhyme. The children need to be prepared to recite a short song, poem, or nursery rhyme. Alphafriend songs are perfect for this sharing-- they can choose a letter we've covered and sing the accompanying Alphafriend song. We also love to hear songs and lullabies from other countries, so this is a perfect time for children to show off other languages that they know!
Remember that we have canceled centers this week due to the assessments of the incoming kindergartners. We could still use one helper from about 9:00 to 10:00 (maybe slightly less time) on Tuesday, if anyone is available. We will be making some hats/masks for our Mother's Day play, so I will need help measuring heads and working with the kids on decorating those.
Moms, remember that Muffins with Mom is coming up on May 9th at 10:30, and it is most important that you come to that. If for some reason you are unable to join us, please consider sending another "representative," such as Grandma, Aunt, a special neighbor, etc. The kids are always so excited to host their mothers for this event, so it is important that someone is there. Thank you!
There is a book order up that is due on May 20th if you'd like to order. This will be our last order of the year.
