Week of 5/24

This Week in Class
Sight Word: this
Math: Logical thinking/review
Theme: End of year fun!

Sharing
This week's sharing theme is homemade item. Please have your children bring something they made themselves, either from a kit, at preschool, in kindergarten, at an art class, etc. No need to hide the item since this is not a guessing activity. Children should be prepared to talk about how they made the item. The sharing schedule can be found here. If your child forgets sharing on his/her sharing day, or is out on his/her sharing day, it is difficult to do make-up sharing. We have 5-6 children sharing per day, and sharing usually lasts 15+ minutes as it is. If we happen to have extra time, I'll try to squeeze in a make-up share, but that is not a guarantee. Thank you for your understanding, and for making sure that your child doesn't miss his/her assigned sharing day.

Final Cornerstone
Our final Cornerstone reading & lesson will be this Wednesday! This has been an amazing Cornerstone year. Thanks so much to Matt & Danielle for providing lessons each month that help all children feel valued, respected, and known. Thank you to Raji for her efforts in Miss Mangione's class, and for joining our team in these final weeks. I am looking forward to our last lesson this week.

Grasshopper T-shirt Days
A reminder that this Wednesday is another Grasshopper t-shirt day. Looking forward to seeing those t-shirts on Wednesday! Next week, I am changing the t-shirt day to coordinate with our class party on Thursday the 3rd.

Class Party
The Grasshoppers are going camping! Our final celebration together will be our end of the year party on Thursday, 6/3. We will have a camping theme, and we will set up "tents" in our classroom. I am very excited for our last hurrah together. Thank you to Faye & Raji for coordinating the crafts and activities for this event. We are switching the t-shirt day to Thursday next week so that we are all Team Grasshopper for our camp-out.

Book Fair
The Spring Book Fair still has a few days left. Stock up for the summer! Reading for pleasure is such a great activity to encourage, and if you have great book selections, kids will very willingly read. Check out the Virtual Book Fair here!

Final Report Card
Your child's final report card will be sent home on Friday the 4th. The final trimester is not a conferencing period (it never has been), so the report card just goes home. If you have any questions or concerns and you'd like to meet with me, please email me.
