Kindergarten Back-to-School Night, a meeting for parents only, is Monday, August 9th at 5:30 p.m.: This meeting will be on Zoom. You will receive a Zoom link from your child's teacher by Friday the 6th. Please turn on your cameras for this meeting so that we can start matching names with faces.
Kindergarten Orientation is Tuesday, August 10th,
from 10:00 to 11:00. You will receive a sign-up for this event, as it will be held in 15 minute shifts between 10:00-11:00
Supplies
that we usually ask for in kindergarten include glue sticks, white
board markers, liquid hand soap, and hand sanitizer. These are not mandatory,
but just appreciated donations. Check Back-to-School sales for these
items-- we appreciate it!!
School begins on Wednesday, August 11, 2021-- ALL KINDERGARTEN SESSIONS WILL RUN FROM 8:15 to 11:35, until September 27th. Child care is available at Union School District Extended Care or Holy Cross (408) 356-6828.
You will receive a letter, welcoming you to Alta Vista via email, that will give you more information about the school year.
For kindergarten readiness, the AV kindergarten team highly recommends that your child comes into kindergarten:
- recognizing most letters
- writing his/her name legibly, using one upper-case & the rest lower-case letters
- recognizing numbers to 10 & beyond
- knowing names of basic shapes
- having good cutting/scissor skills
- able to sit attentively for the duration of a picture book
