Week of 11/12

I hope you are all enjoying a long weekend. In the upcoming week, we will continue parent-teacher conferences through Thursday. I have enjoyed meeting with many of you so far, and have gained some great insights about your children from you. Thank you for meeting with me and being such active participants in your child's education. I look forward to meeting with the rest of you this week. For this week, early dismissal at 1:15 continues through Thursday. Friday the 15th, the children will attend school until 1:40.

There will be no classroom centers this week, due to the early dismissal. Centers will resume on Monday the 18th.

Please remember to return your Blue Bags on Tuesday, with your child's special turkey project in the bag. We are going to make a book out of the turkey project to circulate around so everyone can see the fun ways that the turkeys were disguised!

Language Arts
Our final letters will be introduced this week-- Yy and Zz. This means that we will be doing much more blending and spelling short-vowel words now. We will focus on word endings, such as "at," "an," etc. to read and spell words like cat, bat, rat, fan, man, pan, etc. Our sight word his week is up.

Math
We will continue comparing numbers to look at which has more, less, and which groups are equal. This topic is a part of Module 3: Comparison of Weigh, Length, Capacity, and Numbers to 10. Parent tips for this module can be found here.

Friendship Feast
We are getting excited for our Friendship Feast on the 22nd. It would be wonderful if you can all join us for the Feast on Friday, even if you can only come briefly. The children look so cute in their costumes & love sharing the meal with family members. They will sing a couple of songs for you and then we will get started with the meal. Younger siblings are welcome if there is a child care issue. Thank you to those of you who have signed up to help with the event. We still need many more sign-ups to make this event a success! Upcoming Events 
Cornerstone:
We have our November Cornerstone lesson on Tuesday. Thank you to Jessica for presenting. She is still looking for another volunteer for this great program! Please contact her if you are interested in helping.

Clay:
We are glazing our clay projects this Friday. Please don't send your children in any special outfits that day, as the clay glaze does stain. Please contact Gomathi if you can help with this. We will be glazing at about 10:25 at the picnic table outside our classroom.

Nutcracker:
Looking ahead on your calendars at this busy time of year, I wanted to make sure that you are all marking your calendars for Thursday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m.-- our annual performance of The Nutcracker. This is something that you will not want to miss. Hopefully, those of you who are heading out of town have let me know by now so that I can plan parts accordingly. If you haven't, please let me know!
