Week of 6/5

It's exciting and a little sad at the same time, but we are heading into our last week together. What a wonderful year it's been! I'd like to thank you for the fantastic support you've given me all year long-- it was a fantastic first "normal" post-pandemic year, where we could return to all our most memorable events.

Here is a day-by-day run-down of the week:

MONDAY: Field Day. This is a school-wide event. Please wear class t-shirts and appropriate footwear, and bring a refillable water bottle! Sunblock would also be a good idea, and hats, too. Sunblock must be applied before coming to school, as I cannot apply it since it is classified as a medication. Class t-shirts are REALLY important on this day because the whole school is out on the field together, and it is MUCH easier to keep track of students if they all have their Grasshopper green on! The event starts at 8:30 and goes on until 10:00 (our snack time). We will have snack-time, as usual, at 10:00. Yearbooks are being passed out on Monday to those who ordered them before the cut-off. Children can sign yearbooks at choice time each day after Monday (there may not be enough time on Monday, depending on when we get them). Please send your child's yearbook and a few pens in their backpack each day if they want to gather signatures.

TUESDAY: Alta Vista Family Picnic from 12:00 to 12:45. If you haven't done so already, please let me know whether or not you are attending here. There is also a line on this form that allows you to put a friend's name that your child can eat with (pre-arranged with the family, of course) if you are unable to make it. Since the whole campus is involved with this event, I need to know ahead of time whether or not to expect you to be picking up your child and taking them to the back field. Also, since the whole campus is involved with this event, be sure to pick up your visitor's badge ahead of time if you don't want to wait in a long line. I have already heard from parent(s) of the following children (thank you!!):

Caleb

Olive

Landon

Jonathan

Kai

Laya

Mert

Rose

Lily

Joey

Dino

Sadie

Sonya

Owen

Ryan

Vivienne

Emmi

Riley

Alexander

If your child's name is not on the above list, please let me know as soon as possible what your plans are on that day.

WEDNESDAY: This is a typical Wednesday, with dismissal at 1:15. No special events.

THURSDAY: Class party "camp out!" Wear your Grasshopper shirt again (not as important if you can't get it washed in time) and come prepared for a fun day of doing work and activities in a tent, making some crafts, and eating s'mores! Thank you to Danielle, Jen, and Maria for their work on coordinating this party! Helpers who are running centers & helping with food at the party are: Fadime, Shereen, Danielle, Lauren M. and Maria. Please arrive a little before 10:00 so that we can get the centers started right away.

FRIDAY: Our final day together! This will be a fun day of review, cleaning out our room, and enjoying our last day as kindergartners. No need to pack a lunch, but please do pack a snack and water bottle, as usual. If your child needs a grab & go sun butter sandwich, let me know. Dismissal is 12:15!

Happy Summer!!!
