I hope you are enjoying the long weekend. As we head into another four-day school week, I wanted to remind you that this week, we also have two days of the "Discover & Explore K" program. There will be no small group or 11:00 meetings on 1/19 or 1/22. January 20th & January 21st are our only days this week with all Zoom meetings.

ELA Small Group Materials
- Sight word sentence pack-- we are now in the 2nd pack that has "big" on the cover
- Warm Up Pack (When I Come to a Tricky Word I Can...is on the front) Butterfly group needs the "Sound Up" chart

Math Small Group Materials
- We will continue to use various pages from this pack during small group math lessons this week. Please have this ready for your child, as well as dice & a paperclip.
- Whiteboard, marker, eraser, flat marbles (daily)
Special Activities at 11:00 Zoom:
This week, we will again have two special activities at the 11:00 Zoom. On Wednesday the 20th, we will be making paper snowflakes together using this template. Please have your children bring the template & scissors to the 11:00 Zoom. They will also have a SeeSaw activity on that day to continue making more snowflakes. You might want to have plenty of paper handy! On Thursday the 21st, we will be doing a "melted snowperson" art activity. You received the background paper and a baggie of other papers at the last pickup for this project. Please have children bring those papers, along with scissors, a pencil, and a gluestick, to the 11:00 Zoom on Thursday.

Office Hours
A reminder that right now, office hours are only available on Thursdays from noon to 1:00. Your child can wait in the waiting room if I am with another student, and will be let in as soon as I am done (usually not more than 15 minutes later). If your child needs extra support with a concept or page we are working on, or if parents have a question for me, office hours is a great time for one-on-one conversations & support.
January Materials Pick-Up
Our next materials pick-up will be on Tuesday, January 26th, from 12:30 to 1:30. Children who attend the Discover & Explore program will receive their bags in class & will not have to return to school to pick up bags. Since I will be teaching the PM session of the Discover & Explore program between 12:30-1:00, please see Mrs. Arrieta to pick up your child's bag if you are going through the drive-through pick-up line. Thank you!
Upcoming Art Vista Lesson
During the first week of February, we will have an Art Vista lesson on animal paintings, followed by an activity where children will make animals out of upcycled materials. Please start saving small boxes (cracker boxes, cookie boxes, cereal boxes, etc.), toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, and any other materials you think your child might need to create an upcycled animal.
